For nearly a decade, Lord has been working to help both the Puerto RIco Power Authority and the Government of Puerto Rico achieve the established Renewable Energy Porfolio Goals. In 2016, LORD Construction and Renewable Energy Systems, LLC (an affiliate of Lord Electric Company) were the trusted team that worked at the Fonroche Humacao Solar and the PREPA Humacao TC Improvement Projects.
The Fonroche Humacao Solar farm was built on 160 acres (65 hectares) and provides power to the state-owned electric company as part of a 20-year, $240 million contract. LORD, thru our affiliate Renewable Energy Systems, LLC, performed Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning of the 40MW Humacao Solar Farm. Scope of Work included the AC, DC, Mechanical and Commissioning works, including the Design-Build of the main 115kV substation/switchyard for the utility (PREPA) at Humacao TC.
During both Hurricanes Irma and María the Humacao solar power utility suffered a direct hit. In both cases, LORD Construction and Renewable Energy Systems, LLC stepped in and was hired to rebuild the site in record time.
